The Larix House a Interior Design by Corvin Cristian

The old wood boat sheds on the neighboring Snagov Lake inspired the shape and materials of the house. Architect Corvin Cristian has completed the Larix House in Snagov, Romania. The lot is narrow thus generating the plan and position. For intimacy reasons, the street elevation is totally opaque while the openings abound towards the courtyard. Sun protection is provided by exterior electric aluminum blinds that slide underneath the wood facade when not in use.

The Thonet chairs, the ottoman inspired sofa from Autobahn, the reclaimed wood coffee table or the Matthew Hilton “Oscar” armchairs are a counterpoint to the white minimal space. The walls are to be filled with a collection of paintings. In the austere geometry of the house introduced some “romantic” elements as the curved balcony handrail or the 1900 colored concrete tiles.

Achieving Balance with Asymmetrical Interior Design

The foundations of asymmetrical style include arrangements or designs that are based on avoiding repetition, which is typical of classical or traditional styles. By using an asymmetrical interior design principle for the kitchen wall, the designers succeeded in achieving balance in this unusual space – one that is highly modern and evokes an enormous amount of interest.

The cut out of the angled kitchen wall is in the wonderful shape of an isosceles triangle and it provides an out of the ordinary view from either side. The look of the wall itself also makes a striking statement in the room. The danger of asymmetry in a room comes about when it is over done. Instead of accomplishing an unusual but pleasing balance, you could end up with a ‘fun-house’ effect.

Contemporary Fireplaces With Rustic Designs by Modus

These contemporary fireplaces boast an innovative heat efficient technology and a stylish aesthetic. If you are looking for rustic fireplace designs, check out these ideas by Modus Design. Steel and natural slate cladding, rust effect finishes and chrome fixings give these designs a modern rustic look. These enclosed gas fire or wood burning fireplaces create a wonderful focal point in any room – even in the kitchen as you can see. Especially like the idea of creating a contrast with a raw wooden, stone or brick wall against the bold straight lines of the fireplaces themselves. They are wonderful frames from which to view the dancing flames of the fire.

Modern Interior Design Villa UH1 by RB Arkitektur

RB Arkitektur designed this house in Stockholm, Sweden. The house is conceived as part of the landscape climbing gently up a hilly terrain. An inner courtyard allows for privacy as well as for maximum daylight. Fireplace Quiet Elegant Design With Beautiful Scenery

The couch faces the fireplace and the view and really designates it as a special area, as does the fact that the space in enclosed on three sides. Yet the feeling remains airy and open with the help of the half wall and the large windows. The nook has no television, no distractions, just the calming kinetic glow of the fire to promote total serenity. Especially in this contemporary space, the fire really comes alive against the light, neutral color scheme. If you are lucky enough to have a beautiful decorative fireplace like this one, consider making it the focal point of the nook.

Inspiring Idea for Study Room Interior Design

Inspiring interior design this study room has. The study belongs to house “B3″, one of the 20 houses in a residential project by Atelier FCJZ. The built-in library unit is very majestic and can feel an Asian influence behind it and the whole interior in general. What is most striking about this room is the decision to continue the library pattern onto the ceiling. It adds an incredible amount of interest and gives this grand room a cozier feel – one that is typical when we think of a study. Another lovely touch is the ambient lighting around the ceilings’ edge, which also serves to accent the architectural features of the ceiling.

Interior Design Home with Colorful by Barbara Bestor

Designed by Bestor Architecture, this Californian bungalow possesses such a lively quality thanks to all that color, without being aggravating. This was achieved by using big accents of cheerful yellow against the white and natural main elements of the interior design.

Smaller accents of complimentary colors green and red help make the color scheme more dynamic, while the use of black to frame the kitchen grounds the space. This residence has a wonderful open floor plan, and shows how using bright, bold colors can define living areas and create an energetic modern home

Interior Design Nu Asia Restaurant in Bahrain by SHH

SHH designed the new building as three elegant interlocking volumes, each one larger than the last and variously clad in timber, glass and stone. The first 8.5m high ‘box’ is clad in dark timber slats, allowing the light to shine through dramatically at night-time, whilst protecting against the searing daytime sun. A grand stone entry staircase in Galala marble is located in front of/alongside this first timber slat elevation. The staircase is set beneath a high-impact cantilevered entrance canopy, inset on the underside with brightly-coloured mosaic-style tiling, linking in both to the shapes used on the third stone volume of the building and to a fabric two-storey wall created as part of the interior treatment.

The second 9.7m high ‘Chinese lantern’ box is clad in dark glass and features applied aluminium mullions in a geometric pattern, whilst the third and final 12.2m high box is clad in stone, in the colour of sand to blend in with its environs, in seemingly random grain patterns. In fact, the striking geometric pattern was achieved by turning the basic stone module pieces either vertically or horizontally with filler pieces in between for tolerances.
